Earth BioGenome Project
Biography and presentation
An American biologist, distinguished genomics researcher and leader of the Earth BioGenome Project (EBP), which aims to sequence the DNA of all known eukaryotic species. His work is fundamental to biodiversity conservation and understanding genome evolution. He is a professor at Arizona State University and a member of the US National Academy of Sciences. Previously, he served as Vice Chancellor for Research at UC Davis and founding director of the Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology. He has made major contributions to comparative genomics and chromosome evolution.
Dr. Patrick Wincker
Genoscope
Biography and presentation
A French biologist and distinguished researcher in eukaryotic comparative genomics, sequencing technologies and ecosystem genomics, affiliated with the CEA’s Institut de Biologie François Jacob in France. He currently directs Genoscope, the French National Sequencing Center, is a member of Fondation TARA Océan’s scientific committee, directs the France Génomique National Infrastructure, and co-directs ATLASea, a project revealing the genomes of French marine species. His honors include the French Academy of Sciences’ 2018 Innovation Award and election to the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO).
